Hylase® Vienna
Dissolving Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Hylase® treatment allows injected hyaluronic acid fillers to be dissolved in a targeted and controlled manner. The treatment uses the enzyme hyaluronidase, which breaks down hyaluronic acid within the tissue.
Hylase® is used when existing fillers need to be corrected, adjusted or removed prior to a new treatment.
Dissolving filler may be beneficial when fillers do not integrate evenly into the tissue, when irregularities, firmness or palpable nodules develop, or when unwanted filler migration occurs.
The goal of treatment is to restore clarity within the tissue and create a stable, controllable foundation — regardless of whether further treatment is planned or not.
For precise lip enhancement, a filler-free tissue base is often essential. Hylase® treatment may therefore be recommended prior to lip filler treatment.
At Doctrice Vienna, treatment is performed on the basis of a detailed assessment and an individually tailored treatment plan.

Before and After Treatment
Before Treatment
Blood-thinning medications should, if medically appropriate, be discussed with the treating physician beforehand.
Alcohol consumption should be reduced as much as possible.
A period of approximately four to six weeks should generally be maintained between hyaluronic acid filler treatment and Hylase® treatment.
After Treatment
Temporary swelling, small bruises or minor bumps may occur at the injection sites. These reactions are common and usually resolve within three to five days.
For approximately 24 hours after treatment, the following should be avoided:
• Intense physical activity
• Alcohol and nicotine
• Sauna and heat exposure
• Massages of the treated area
To support the healing process, patients are advised to stay well hydrated and avoid cooling the treated area.
Contraindications
Hylase® treatment should not be performed in cases of:
• Known allergies to ingredients of the product or local anaesthetic
• Known wasp venom allergy
• Active infections at the injection sites
• Pregnancy or breastfeeding
• Certain severe medical conditions, such as significant circulatory disorders or relevant systemic diseases
The use of blood-thinning medications or certain other medications should be medically evaluated prior to treatment.
An individual medical assessment is carried out during the personal consultation.
Treatment Areas
Hylase® treatment is used for the targeted correction of existing fillers and as preparation for further aesthetic treatments.
Common treatment areas include:
Correction of Hyaluronic Acid Fillers
Dissolving unwanted filler results in areas such as the lips or cheeks.
Filler Migration
Treatment of displaced or unevenly distributed filler material.
Tissue Irregularities
Dissolving firmness, nodules or palpable lumps.
Preparation for Further Treatments
Removal of remaining filler material to create a clear foundation for future treatment.
Lip Treatment
Creating a filler-free tissue foundation as a prerequisite for precise lip enhancement.
Treatment Procedure and Effects
Hylase® contains the enzyme hyaluronidase, which specifically breaks down previously injected hyaluronic acid fillers. The liquefied material is then naturally eliminated through the body's metabolic and lymphatic systems.
The effect occurs significantly faster than the natural breakdown of filler. Initial changes are usually visible within a few days, while the full result generally develops after one to two weeks.
The treatment has no effect on the skin's natural hyaluronic acid levels or on the body's own hyaluronic acid production.
Treatment Process
Before injection, the treatment area is prepared with a numbing cream, which usually takes effect after approximately 20 minutes. Hylase® is then carefully injected into the relevant areas.
Dr. Latowa works with a special dilution technique that, unlike many other Hylase® treatments, does not cause a burning sensation. The injection itself usually takes only a few minutes.
A follow-up appointment after several days is used to assess the treatment effect and ensure that no filler remains in the tissue.
Before new hyaluronic acid filler is injected, a waiting period of at least four to six weeks is generally recommended.
